Head protection built to the same rigorous ballistic standards as your body armor, with mounting options for lights, comms, and night vision.
Tactical Edge & Armor carries two Level IIIA ballistic helmets, both built on the same FAST SF high-cut platform and tested to NIJ Standard 0106.01. The difference between them comes down to shell material, not protection tier. Both are rated to stop the same threats, including .44 Magnum and 9mm.
Built from UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene), this is the lighter of the two shells and is marketed as the company’s lightest Level IIIA helmet. If minimizing weight for extended wear is the priority, this is the one to start with.
Built from an Aramid shell instead of polyethylene. Aramid construction is generally more impact-resistant per unit of weight, at a small weight tradeoff versus the UHMWPE build. Same NIJ 0106.01 Level IIIA rating as the H1.
Choosing between the two If you’re deciding between them, weight versus impact resistance is the real tradeoff, not protection level, since both are rated identically. UHMWPE (H1) trims weight. Aramid (H2) trades a bit of that back for shell durability. Either integrates with the same rail and shroud accessories, so your choice doesn’t lock you out of NVG mounts or comms gear either way.
Pair either helmet with a plate carrier from our Plate Carriers category for full protection, and check Accessories for rail-mounted lights, mounts, and a helmet bag to protect your investment in transport.
